Fargo Systems has launched a new software apprenticeship programme in a strategic move to invest in the next generation of IT talent.

The successful candidate Hamish Marwick, 17, has begun an 18-month work-based BTEC Level 3 qualification in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals.

The logistics software specialist has partnered with Suffolk New College to deliver the apprenticeship programme, which also provides weekly educational support to Hamish.

Steve Collins, Fargo Systems Director said: “We are very excited to launch our first apprenticeship programme. We are working in partnership with an innovative education provider to create an apprenticeship scheme that enables people to turn their passion for technology into a potential career.”

Hamish’s ‘learn-on-the-job’ role will incorporate key skills such as SQL, independent problem solving and experience across a wide range of support and development projects.

Steve Collins concludes: “We are keen to develop the next generation of talent in the company and it underlines our commitment to recruiting highly-motivated young people from the local area.”
